How this examination works
The Türk Cerrahi Yeterlik Kurulu — the qualification board of the Turkish Surgical Association — examines in two stages: written first, and those who pass go on to the oral. One deadline shapes the whole strategy: the written is valid for five years. The oral must be sat within those five years; after that the written lapses and has to be taken again before the oral becomes available. The board also runs a Board School to refresh the theory of eligible candidates and of residents with four or more years.

This is a VOLUNTARY board: the Turkish specialist title does not depend on it. It is sat by those who want to evidence competence beyond the title, and the association opens its preparation to residents from their fourth year onwards.
