How this examination works
CONACEM certifies by three routes, and only one of them involves an examination. The ordinary route — roughly three in four applicants — is having completed an accredited university training programme. The second is five years of documented practice, covering about one in four. The third is training obtained abroad: that route does carry a written theory examination in the specialty and, once passed, a final practical examination, with eighteen months allowed between the two.
Who can sit it
The specialty title must come from a Chilean university whose programme is accredited by ASOFAMECH or by agencies authorised by the National Accreditation Commission. The general requirement is at least five years working in the specialty, a minimum of twenty-two hours a week, under a legal contract in centres of appropriate complexity.
