No national exit examinationColombia does not set a national exit examination in general surgery. The specialist title is awarded by the university at the end of residency, and what follows is registration: enrolment in ReTHUS, the health workforce registry held by the Ministry of Health, which is where specialist status is publicly verified. The Asociación Colombiana de Cirugía is the specialty’s scientific society, not a certifying board.
So what is a question bank for, here? For the years before the title, and for the evaluations inside them. Where there is no exit examination the pressure moves into residency — the ward round, the rotation assessment, the case you are asked to defend — and it is the same general surgery either way. The bank is also what you sit down with before a certification examination abroad, and before recertifying.
