Especialista en Cirugía General (República Dominicana) — residencia y registro

Latin America · DO · Middle pricing

How you become a specialist here

No national exit examination

In the Dominican Republic medical residencies are coordinated by the Ministry of Public Health’s Directorate of Medical Residencies, and the primary medical degree that gives access is certified by MESCyT; foreign degrees are validated first. The specialty is evidenced by the programme completed, with no national exit examination.

So what is a question bank for, here? For the years before the title, and for the evaluations inside them. Where there is no exit examination the pressure moves into residency — the ward round, the rotation assessment, the case you are asked to defend — and it is the same general surgery either way. The bank is also what you sit down with before a certification examination abroad, and before recertifying.

Checked against the body itself on 1 September 2026. Procedures change; if this no longer matches what you were asked for, write and tell us.

Common questions about this examination

Is there a national general surgery examination in República Dominicana?

In the Dominican Republic medical residencies are coordinated by the Ministry of Public Health’s Directorate of Medical Residencies, and the primary medical degree that gives access is certified by MESCyT; foreign degrees are validated first. The specialty is evidenced by the programme completed, with no national exit examination.

How is a general surgeon certified in República Dominicana?

Through the Ministry of Public Health’s Directorate of Medical Residencies. It is a registration procedure over a title already awarded, not a specialty examination. We checked this with the body itself on 1 September 2026, and we publish the date so that it is obvious when it ages.

Is a question bank useful if República Dominicana has no exit examination?

It is useful for residency, which is where it is actually decided: rotation assessments, the ward round and the case you are asked to defend. And for anyone sitting a certification abroad or recertifying. 5,000 single-best-answer questions across the whole of general surgery, each with the reasoning for every option rather than only the correct one — 2,051 of them, 41%, at the hardest of three levels.

What does it cost from República Dominicana?

It is priced by the country your card is issued in, so candidates are not quoted another country's price. The figures that apply to you are on this page.

Every answer above is taken from the examining body’s own published document, not from our reading of it.
